Will Randy Jackson Leave "American Idol"?

Note: Randy Jackson has agreed to step down as a judge and to serve as a mentor for American Idol, which means that he is not leaving the show, as the original question asked. Therefore this will be cashed out at "no."

YOU DIDN'T THINK it would happen, but it did. Stephen Tyler announced he was done with "American Idol" on Friday, July 13. (And given that it's Tyler, perhaps the date was intentional.) In typically colorful fashion, Tyler proclaimed sadly that, "I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit" -- and now he's going back on the road with the band. All of which begs the question: what will happen to Jennifer and Randy? It's a tough call. JLo is among the savviest businesswomen in Hollywood, and you can bet she's determined to get what she's worth, all of which could make it hard to stitch together a deal. Randy for his part has always been the sidekick, but perhaps he's sick of that and wants to headline this sucker once and for all -- all of which could cause problems. We're not sure how it will unfold, but we do expect a lot more public handwringing, as both sides gauge media reaction and try to see how badly the public wants "Idol" to retain its stars. Prepare for drama as the eliminations begin.

Seems like Idol is coming apart at the seams since Simon left a long time ago or so it seems, however Randy Jackson along with Ryan Secrest are the threads that hold this show together. Both Randy and Simon knew who had "it" and who was marketable talent after all isn't that what this is all about finding someone who is talented enough to make them more money?? I would say so. I'm sure the show will go on for one more season and hopefully Randy will stay and just maybe find someone to work along beside him that can pick out marketable talent-- the one who has "it" from the one who doesn't..

I do not think the franchise can allow The Dawg to go. No mater who the other judges have been from Simon to Ellen to JLo, Randy has proven to always be the peacemaker and the glue to hold these kids together frm Hollywood Week to their final glowing moment alone. The Idol has always done aces of a job piecing together a crack panel of awesome pop leadership and The Dawg embodies all that has ever stood for. If Randy is no longer a part of this road to fame, it would be too great a loss for the show to ever recover.
