Apple: Will Apple Announce an Apple Television Set this Year?

APPLE DISAPPOINTED THE chattering classes when it passed on announcing the next iPhone at its recent WWDC conference -- instead we got (yawn) iOS6. And while the last iPad was kinda snazzy, it was hardly the kind of blockbuster announcement we've come to grow used to from the world's most-watched company. So it's been a while since Cupertino really shook things up. And, if rumors are right, they might well do so before the year. While there have been murmurs about an Apple-produced television set for some time, in the past weeks they have at last grown at least halfway credible. According to multiple sources Sharp is delivering significant quantities of television parts to Apple's signature factory, Foxconn. That set tongues wagging that surely, at long last, Apple is set to invade the living room with a full-fledged Apple TV set. (Of course, few are allowing that perhaps Foxconn just has other clients, which seems plausible as well.) So you be the judge: will a full-fledged Apple TV set arrive this year? Place your bets while the speculation is high.

I believe they will, and I believe the pre-Christmas timing is perfect. But, I am not sure how hot a seller it will be at that time in this economy while everyone is making sure the kids are taken care of. I am just curious to see what the features will be and what that introductory price point will be.
