WILL FERRELL and Zach Galifianakis as dueling Southern politicians in a comedy about an election on an election year... What could go wrong? Seriously, though, this is directed by Jay Roach (of Meet the Parents and Austin Powers) and it's got two of the biggest, arguably most hilarious dudes in comedy. This one should be a winner for those who can have a little sense of humor about one of the most ridiculous things in our country: small-town Congressional elections (Parks and Recreation, anyone?). And with all the remakes, sequels, prequels, kids' movies, and action flicks this summer, this one is actually a stand-out original, amazingly enough. This could hit the spot for fans of Ferrell, who hasn't been on the big screen in quite a while. Comedies don't usually break the bank, though, so we think this one will land at a healthy $30M.
I'm now wondering if I'm gonna hear "I'm so and so and I approve this message" And I'm wondering how this will effect the elections we all see on TV how our politicians "belittle" and "berate" each other. Now the subtext is on full screen. No subliminal secduction here. I'm going to count each time I see this movie advertised and I am sure it will be a lot cause this is an election year. Just wondering which one of our candidates is subliminally being pushed towards re election.I'd say Ferrell uh Obama... I'm sure there will be a little profit here because people will be drawn into something that is going on today on our planet and as I've said before timing is everything and this has been released at just the right moment....
These two guys together will bring people to the theaters. I think its going to have a solid weekend but will die down shortly after. Batman is still going to dominate over new releases.
