How Much Will "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days" Gross in its Opening Weekend?

THE THIRD in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, "Dog Days" follows the same main character, Greg Heffley (played by Zachary Gordon), into the long, endless days of summer. Directed by David Bowers, an animator who worked on Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, this third installment should be fodder for kids who've devoured the very successful book series ("Dog Days" is based on both the third and fourth books in the Wimpy Kid series). With both the first and second Wimpy Kid movies debuting at around a respectable $22-23M as March releases, this third one will probably get more viewers simply by virtue of the fact that it's coming out in summer, when all the kids are out of school too, just like Greg. We're betting on a cool $35-$40M here for the Wimpy Kid and all his fans.

At last something to laugh about even if it is silly. This is a movie that all kids can relate to, vacations with someone you don't want to be with ie your parents but you have no choice so you are drug along while being bored and embarassed not realizing you are creating memories where later in life you will look back and laugh. This looks to be a pretty good summer movie. However it's been my experience in raising three boys and one girl that most boys will be outside trying to impress the girls while the girls will be inside talking about the boys who are trying to impress them. Stuff this movie is made of Don't see much of a profit here cause most kids will be outside playing the parts...
