HEY, BROS: this one’s for you. Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena tag-team it in a fiercely bro-y cop/action flick set in LA and featuring drug cartels, shootouts, and more. And they’re billing it “from the writer of TRAINING DAY,” which is a similar movie about a rookie narcotics detective and his mentor that earned several Academy Awards and nominations for acting. Somehow, though, we don’t think “End of Watch” is aiming so high. The trailer reads as very masculine and action-packed, obviously…but is it just us, or does it look super dramatic and cheesy? In any case, Gyllenhaal’s nothing to laugh at, and he’s done the uber-masculine thing really well in “Jarhead.” The director, David Ayers, is firmly entrenched in the LAPD-movie scene, with “Harsh Times” and “Street Kings” also under his belt (plus “Training Day,” of course). We’re betting that they’ll easily get $30M worth of the target demo (dudes). What do you think?
Now I've been taken 2 the end of my watch while some resident evil "drug thugs" are hanging out at end of so many decaying parts of the city streets. These "drug thugs" seem to be in a spree of killing and not so softly so the word here is this movie reminds me of so many other movies that have the same sinister script. I'm just glad my dog Frankenweenie was not one of these guys police dogs.....My bet yep a little more than what's predicted after all this is a guys film and us women will stay home with our dogs......
