How Much Will "Gangster Squad" Gross in its Opening Weekend?

DIRECTOR RUBEN FLEISCHER is best known for comedy--he directed Zombieland and 30 Minutes or Less and was involved with TV shows Jimmy Kimmel Live and Rob & Big. Now he's making his serious-movie debut with Gangster Squad, a period drama set in the 1940s about the mafia in Los Angeles and the police force that's trying to stop them. Starring Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Emma Stone, and Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, and Mickey Cohen (among others), the movie looks from the trailer to be a rip-roaring, drama-filled and action-packed ride through the mean, mean streets of LA--and the art direction looks on point, too. However, its release date is oddly scheduled, not quite summer season but not quite Oscar season either. We'll see if the masses still have some moviegoing stamina left after a summer full of action, scifi, and comic book heroes. We're predicting no more than $20M here. UPDATE: The release date has been postponed to January 2013.

I read that this film is rescheduled for Jan 2013 because a scene has to be redone so it's really too early to predict. Come back after Christmas because one certainly doesn't want to advertise this type of violence just before the holidays. So I'll give it what's predicted a little more than 20ml right now cause its gonna have to make a lot of money to make up for losses. Hopefully the actors are hard at work trying to edit this thing. Also I just don't see the title "Gangster Squad" fitting this film and I don't know why maybe it's because it sounds more like a TV thing ya know like the "Untouchables" ah that's it this film is kinda like that....

It's got a great cast. I agree with canam about the title: I was expecting something different. The poster didn't exactly inspire me as well. However, the movie does sound promising.
