WE'RE PITTING these two action-packed military thrillers against one another, and we’re eager to see which one will come out victorious... and which will be waving the white flag. G.I. Joe: Retaliation, though a sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (which made $54M in its opening weekend, but was not a critical success to say the least), has differentiated itself from the original movie by adding a slew of new actors to the mix, including a trio of bona-fide blockbuster-making action stars Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. On the other hand, Battleship does the Transformers thing by taking an old childhood standby and bringing it to widescreen life. Directed by Peter Berg, mostly of television fame (biggest title in his roster is the popular “Friday Night Lights”), the cast includes Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, and Liam Neeson. We say: this one is too close to call!
