YEP, the Ice Agers are still surviving. The crazy crew of hilarity-enducing animals returns this summer for a fourth installment to the Ice Age franchise. In Ice Age 4: Continental Drift, the glacial creatures are somehow skipping thousands of years of evolution and geological history to stumble through continental drift in the latest piece of the series. With the original voice talents of Ray Romano, Denis Leary, and John Leguizamo, Continental Drift looks to be yet another quality kids' flick that will be enjoyed by kids and their parents alike this summer. For the numbers, the previous Ice Age movies made $46M (Ice Age), $68M (Ice Age: The Meltdown), and $41M (Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs) in their respective opening weekends. The question is whether the franchise can keep trucking (and compete with Madagascar 3 and Brave for the biggest animated films of the summer), or if it's lost some of its original steam by this point.
I am betting low on this one for two reasons. It may be a personal call, but I think timing is wrong on this one...to close to back to school, summer hype is over...and I don't believe it will even draw what "Madagascar" drew. Only time will tell, we shall see.
The children will love this movie. It tells a story unlike anyother movie. It's fun and if you like animals it will be a fun thing to watch. It will be a hit for the boys i think.
