STEVE CARRELL has done some solid work in the “dark comedy” category (“Little Miss Sunshine” comes to mind), as well as had some serious misses (“Dan In Real Life,” anyone?). In “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World,” he gives it another go, along with co-star Keira Knightley. As an asteroid speeds toward the earth and everyone is given three weeks to live, a man (Carell) agrees to help his neighbor (Knightley) see her family one last time if she’ll take him to find his long-lost first love. Darkly funny hijinks ensue. The trailer is good (and an excellent use of the Talking Heads’ “Road to Nowhere”), so if the director manages to NOT have the world be saved at the last minute by the sheer power of the characters realizing that they belonged together all along, we have high expectations for the film itself. In terms of the box office, it’s opening against “Brave,” so we’re not expecting anything phenomenal, but it could be solid.
Shades of "Night of the Comet" geez is there anything NEW? anymore I dare say no. This script has been done before only the script has a few new twist the actors are of the older crowd but still searching for whatever good is left on this earth and that ain't too good either unless these they both find what they're looking for is not what they expected you know happy endings??? Yeah the trailer is good but no high expectations here especially if it's opening against "Brave" I'd say the red headed heroine will aim her bow and shoot this film right into that asteroid and blam movie over numbers fall right from the asteroid the red head struck..
