Each dollar of the share price represents millions of dollars in sales. Shares bought at $45, for example, would be worth $78 if the movie grosses $78 million. THE DATA: The first movie grossed less than $10 million its opening weekend, but since the last “Sisterhood” movie in 2005, the fame of stars America Ferrera and Blake Lively has increased exponentially.
OUR TAKE: “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” is about four girls who share everything about their lives—boys, family, and whatever is in-between. It’s kind of like “Sex and the City,” minus the sex. And the city. The first movie was said to lack the charm of the book it was based on. It skirted around all of the (mildly) controversial scenes, though that will be difficult this time, since the sequel takes place during the girls’ first year at their respective colleges.
