THE DATA: Arianna Huffington and her online rag The Huffington Post started July atop the Technorati 100, but with TechCrunch and Gizmodo closing quickly in their rear view mirror there’s no guarantee the left-leaning news site will end it as the Interweb’s top blog. As Aaron Brazell notes in a piece on the second generation of political blogging, the 100 is far more tech oriented than political. Will TechCrunch be the site to knock the Queen off her throne?
OUR TAKE: No matter who comes out on top there are no losers here. According to an article in 24/7, HuffPo is worth $70 million and TechCrunch $36 million. Gizmodo is of course part of the Gawker Media empire, which at $150 million is worth almost twice as much as the next closest competitor. —Earl Munro
