WE HAVE TO FOLLOW the L.A. Times on this one – there’s just something about Angie Harmon that makes you want to see that justice is done. Harmon – and that tough-but-feminine face – will be familiar to crime procedural fans of “Law & Order” and the short-lived but well-reviewed “Women’s Murder Club.” She joins Angie Harmon in a show that combines cops, light humor, and domesticity in a show well-suited for TNT, which after all brough us the super “Closer.” In the show, Rizzoli is a tomboyish care-nothing cop – with a crazy family headed by Lorrain Bracco – and her sidekick is medical examiner Maura Isles, who apparently is prim and proper enough that she prefers to die her own silk pumps. They engage in feminine banter as they solve crimes, and while it won’t appeal to men, it’s comforting, predicable, and witty enough to keep women engaged. This is no safe bet, but we “R&I” snagging enough loyal viewers to keep the banter up until a Season Two. 7/7/09.
THE MARKET: Will “Rizolli and Isles” be renewed by TNT? The drama premiered Monday, July 12. Trading will close immediately after its scheduled sixth episode. If the network approves a second season, shares are worth $100. If it doesn’t, they’re worth $0.
