MARKET: Evan Almighty goes into wide release on Friday, June 22, 2007. How much will it gross in its opening weekend as reported by Variety magazine by the end of Monday, June 25? Each dollar of the share price represents millions of dollars in sales. Shares bought at $15, for example, would be worth $39 if the movie grosses $39 million.
THE LOWDOWN: Jim Carey had a blockbuster outing with Bruce Almighty, which according to Box Office Mojo raked in a whopping $67.9 million in its opening weekend. This time it’s Steve Carell taking the lead role as Evan Baxter. Evan gets elected to Congress and is then anointed by God (Morgan Freeman) to build an ark for the coming flood.
