THE MARKET: Will the series “Jericho” be renewed by CBS or by another major network? If the AP, Variety, or other major press outlets confirm that a renewal deal has been reached, shares are worth $100. If these outlets do not report a renewal deal or report the termination of the series, they’re worth $0. See TV confirmation guidelines.
THE LOWDOWN: If you haven’t heard the epic story of the epic series “Jericho,” it’s a doozie. The serial drama of a small town caught in a nuclear disaster, “Jericho” ended it first season with a cliffhanger finale last spring – right before CBS cancelled the show. Incensed fans, bloggers, and online communities launched a campaign to save it, sending twenty tons of nuts to CBS headquarters (apparently referencing a peanut-laden scene in the season finale). Soon enough, CEO Leslie Moonves acknowledged to having read e-mails from “Jericho” fans, and an eight-episode run for 2007 was announced. Will “Jericho” continue its miraculous return from the dead – and get picked up for another season by CBS or another network? Place your bets.
THE PR: The Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette (and many other outlets) indicate that “Jericho” is landing a plumb timeslot: “Rescued from cancellation by fans, ‘Jericho’ will begin its seven-episode second season at 10 p.m. Feb. 12, the Tuesday time slot in which ‘Cane’ is struggling. ‘Jericho,’ the story of Kansas survivalists in the aftermath of a nuclear attack, will capitalize on the lead-in of the first-ever winter edition of ‘Big Brother.’”LEARN MORE: See the “Jericho” Home Page.
