THE MARKET: Reports indicate that “Scrubs” is in a “tug-of-war” between ABC and NBC over which network will have the right to air it in the fall. Will “Scrubs” be renewed on any of the five major networks for the fall season? This market will close when an official announcement is made by one of the networks, or June 11, whichever comes first. See TV confirmation guidelines.
THE LOWDOWN: Network TV plans for the fall are still a bit chaotic, as everyone waits for the dust to settle from the writer’s strike. Fittingly, then, “Scrubs” is rumored to be using up another one of its nine lives. NBC was prepared to let the sitcom go until the merciful ABC decided maybe they would be interested in airing a new season, at which point NBC apparently became interested in “Scrubs” again. Will “Scrubs” survive on any major network?
THE PR: Notably, the show is produced by ABC’s “corporate sibling,” ABC Studios. The arrangement has caused friction between the networks for quite some time, first over the show’s revolving timeslots, then over NBC’s late renewals. Lisa de Moraes at the Washington Post says it’s anybody’s guess where “Scrubs” will end.
