MARKET: Will Flo Rida’s upcoming album “Mail on Sunday” debut in the top five of the Billboard 200 ? If it does, shares are worth $100. If it doesn’t, shares are worth $0. The album will be released on March 18. Trading closes at 11:59 p.m. March 23. The market will be cleared when Billboard releases new charts on March 27.
THE LOWDOWN: Flo Rida knows two things: footwear and rap music. He likes the Reeboks with the straps and the boots with the fur, and America in turn seems to like at least one of his songs. A lot. “Low” has been the No. 1 single for ten weeks in a row. Will the hit single pave the way to a top-five spot for “Mail on Sunday” in the Billboard 200?
THE PR: Hillary Crosley at the Chicago Sun-Times highlighted the early success of “Low” back in February. Among the eye-popping numbers, “Low” set a record for digital downloads in a week when it was downloaded 470,000 times the week after Christmas. Prime billing on the “Step Up 2: The Streets” soundtrack hasn’t hurt.
