<img src="http://content.mediapredict.com/images/filler.gif" alt="" /> WE’VE BEEN FANS of this quirky comedy from the beginning, but we also knew it might go the way of  ignored gems like “Arrested Development.” So far – mixed results. The premiere of "Community" was solid with 7.6 million viewers, and the expected attrition hasn’t been too brutal, with 5.1 million tuning into the latest episode at press time. That’s a long way off from NBC comedy benchmark “The Office,” which just returned to glory by pulling in 9 million viewers for its hilarious “Niagara” episodes. On the other hand, “Community” is still topping “Parks and Recreation,” which continues to disappoint, even after having a season to gain momentum. So – even though the numbers make this a bubble show – we think it’s safe for the year, and probably even a renewal. Critics <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/tv/shows/community">have loved it</a>. We see a creative team that can build interest as time goes by (and “The Office” wasn’t an instant hit either). Newcomer Joel McHale is holding his own, and stalwart Chevy Chase will bring in holdouts. Above all, TV execs everywhere have by now seen “Arrested Development,” laughed themselves silly over it, and realized it’s bad business to kill promising comedy in the crib.
