THE MARKET: Brenna Hajek’s Characters In Search Of An Actress is available for publication. Will it get a book deal or make the Project Publish Shortlist by September 17, 2007? If either of these happens, shares are worth $100. If neither happens, shares are worth $0.
THE AUTHOR: Brenna Hajek has helped break new ground in interactive storytelling as a mentor for the Digital Content Lab at the American Film Institute. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she is also a member of the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences Interactive Media Peer Group and the Writers Guild of America, West, New Media Writers Caucus. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband Michael and sons Cole and Tate.
THE LOWDOWN: What happens when an Academy Award® winning actress comes face-to-face with her own fictional characters? What will they say to her, and about her? In a moment of magical reality, movie star Audrey Miller gets a good dose of truth from her creations when she falls through the trap door in an old abandoned theater. She survives this encounter, only to discover that her sixteen-year-old daughter Claire has been kidnapped after performing at New York’s famed Bitter End. Audrey must set her ego and her fears aside to get Claire back — if it’s not too late. “The writing is imaginative, quick and thoughtful, the characters vital and interesting,” says Jessica Barksdale Inclan, author of The Instant When Everything Is Perfect. “A fun ride with dark and scary moments.”
THE BUZZ: Referred from a literary agent actively representing the book. See market advice.
