THE LOWDOWN:Ya gotta love the Medic Droid’s MySpace page. When other acts assault you with overdone graphics, theirs is … cheap. Then they ask you for a dollar to download their new song. Outside of that, what little content they have on YouTube includes fan videos setting Medic Droid’s music to screen shots from the Kingdom Hearts video game. (What material we could find appears below.) Don’t be fooled by any of it. While they’ve had a relatively modest 2 million song plays, they’ve come out of nowhere into the top ten unsigned bands. They may be the fastest growing act on MySpace.
THE PR: Traders take note! Medic Droid claims they’re on the verge of a deal on their MySpace and purevolume pages: “The Medic Droid is a trio from Phoenix, Arizona in the U.S.A and started at the end of 2006. The band uses an influence between techno & rock music, among other electronic sounds. The Medic Droid is currently seeking and negotiating with labels towards a worldwide release of a debut album along with touring in 2007. Since the debut of their song ‘Fer Sure’ the band grew popularity rapidly along with obtaining a massive dedicated fan base.” Are they going to get the deal? Make the call.
