THE
MARKET: Will 50 Cent’s upcoming album debut at No. 1 in the Billboard 200? If it does, shares are worth $100. If it doesn’t, shares are worth $0. The album will be released on September 11. Trading closes at 11:59 p.m. September 16. The market will be cleared when Billboard releases new charts on September 20.
THE LOWDOWN: Not one to lack for cajones, 50 Cent at first said that he would retire if his new album Curtis doesn’t sell more than Kanye West’s “Graduation Day” when they are both released on September 11. Of course, after the PR bump came, he took it back, although an always-confident Kanye apparently is more concerned with Justin Timberlake than 50 in the first place. The record company is annoyed that some tracks and a video have been leaked early, but then again the early buzz might help Fifty leap Kanye and reach the top top of the Billboard 200 for the third time.
THE PR: 50’s official website has quite a few links to articles about the new album, and also the opportunity to meet likeminded 50 Cent fanatics. Ask them what they think about Kanye.
